Collection: Kellermensch

Hailing from Esbjerg, an old industrial fisherman’s town on the west coast of Jutland, Kellermensch have always done things their own way, and when a band takes its name from Fyodor Dostoevsky’s novella ’Notes from Underground’ written in 1864 (and reckoned one of the first existentialist novels), you kinda know it’s not going to be all bathing suits and drinks in the sun. True to their name, Kellermensch thrives in the dark, molding their rock noir around their signature sound of pump organ and screaming guitars.

Kellermensch is very much a band, fronted by singer, guitarist, composer and lyricist Sebastian Wolff. The sextet, often with added strings, has a dynamic to it reaching from dusty cabaret art rock to full frontal alternative rock’n’roll with splashes of post-punk, blues and sludge metal. This is the kind of band that knows when to play and when not to as they unfold the drama of Sebastian’s songs.

It's worth noticing Kellermensch is the only artist ever to play both Copenhell (the biggest heavy metal festival in Denmark) and Tønder Festival (the biggest folk festival).
