Collection: Nils Gröndahl

Danish violinist and composer Nils Gröndahl first appeared in the band Under Byen in the late 1990's. Alongside performing as a solo artist since 2010, Nils has played with a who’s who of the alternative music scene in Denmark, including among many others Kellermensch, Iceage and Shiny Darkly. So, if you spot a tall, lean guy with a violin and a ton of pedals up on the stage, you know the show isn’t going to be all bad.

There’s a sense of Nordic noir to Nils’ work best described as dark ambient or drone music. Based on looping the electrically amplified octave violin, he’s adding effects and layers on top of layers of layers of sound, building from minimalist to intense and noisy soundscapes.
