Collection: Nive Nielsen

The Greenlandic singer, songwriter and actress Nive Nielsen has been credited with inventing the genre “Inuit-indie”, mixing her Inuk heritage into her folk- and americana-infused indie-pop. Nive Nielsen and The Deer Children is her personal and musical family, made up of like-minded individuals, music lovers, multi-instrumentalists, and friends in a changing lineup. 

Allegedly, the first concert Nive ever played was for the Queen of Denmark, Margrethe II, broadcasted live on national TV. She acted in the Hollywood movie “The New World” (2005) starring Colin Farrell, and in the TV-series “The Terror” (2018) and “Smilla’s Sense of Snow” (2025).  She’s been awarded the Danish Crown Prince Couple's Stardust Award and been nominated for the Nordic Music Prize. Nive was the first Greenlandic artist to ever play SxSW, Eurosonic, Iceland Airwaves and Green Man, and the band has toured extensively in Europe, North America, Japan and South Korea.
