Collection: SPEkTR
SPEkTR is in all essence synonymous with guitarist, composer and producer Manoj Ramdas. He’s been roaming the music scene in Denmark and beyond for more than 20 years, playing with The Raveonettes, Sort Sol, and a long line of other bands, as well as composing score for various film- and TV-productions. Manoj formed SPEkTR back in 2001 as a tribute to visionary composers such as Brian Eno, Philip Glass, Michael Rother, Angelo Badalamenti, and Ennio Morricone, with the intent to explore his love for cinematic sounds.
The result is a blend of progressive rock and movie soundtracks, drawing on stuff like poliziotteschi (a branch of Italian crime and actions films from the 60s and 70s), sounding somehow futuristic – if you try to envision what the future sounded like during The Cold War.
Listening to SPEkTR, you tend to get caught in a psyched up sonic whirlwind as the band blends various genres, creating something that sounds like vintage avant-garde soundtracks for movies you shouldn’t watch alone with the lights turned off.
